Despicable Me birthday party

The girls love this movie. And what's not to love?

Three spunky orphan girls and a professional villain who actually, deep down, has a soft heart..

Add to that an army of these little guys

Unfortunately on the day of the party it rained, so we had to have the party in our small apartment.

Somehow it worked out fine.

Clea requested two things this year: a piñata and the "pin the tail" game.

This is the minion piñata we made:

Check out how we made it HERE

We played "pin the tail on the fluffy unicorn"

and blasted a spaceship with a nerf gun

I got the idea HERE (via Ucreate parties)

You can download the pdf of my version of the spaceship HERE

This is how we put the spaceship together

We reinforced the spaceship with some cardstock then stuck a piece of wood in the back.

We put the whole thing into an empty baby bottle and covered it up.

It worked great, the baby bottle made the spaceship topple over as soon as the spaceship was hit.

What made the party even more fun is that all the guests went all out with their outfits.

The girls all wore ballet outfits/tutus

We even had our very own Mr Gru (check out the scarf my friend Alma made

from 2 pairs of old sweatpants - perfect)

And Clea wore an Agnes costume, of sorts. More on that HERE.

She did not want to wear her hair in a high ponytail on the top of her head

like Agnes does in the movie because she thought she "looked too silly" :)

For snacks we had "moon cupcakes" with fluffy unicorns on top.

a big bowl of "caterpillars that will never become butterflies"

and robot cookies

To make the robot cookie, we simply used a wire clothes' hanger, twisted it like so

and placed a cookie on top.

The piñata provided much entertainment, firstly because it was pretty difficult to break without assistance,

and secondly, because it can also be used as a hat

The children fished their party favors out of a cardboard "box of shame"

More on the party favors HERE, but here's a sneak peek:

It was a "moon-shaped" pencil case full of these rocket crayons

After the fishing, it was just fun to hang out in the "box of shame"
