Toy Story 3 daycare toy tutorial
For Christmas this year, I made a Toy Story daycare for my nephew.

The daycare entrance from the movie.

The "butterfly room" in the movie

I should have used a brighter color/fabric for the walls of the daycare...a yellow or green maybe?
This brown is kinda dull.
If I had thought this thing through properly, I would have drawn the butterflies, kids' artwork, craft table, etc..on my computer
and had them printed at the same time I had the Toy Story characters printed onto fabric.
You could also use heat transfer paper to iron on designs.
My children have been asking for a daycare too, so maybe I will make those changes if I make one for them.

Measurements (in cm) I used for the fabric pieces:

The walls of the daycare will be secured to the floor of the daycare with velcro.

Add a path, sandbox, hopscotch, etc. in the playground

Inside:

Remember to add all embellishments (sunflowers, inside of the daycare room, sandbox and hopscotch in the playground etc.) before sewing the inside and the outside layers together.

Add velcro at the top (outside) to close the daycare

Make a flap with velcro to close the daycare.

Pin outside and inside layers together, right sides together and sew around, making sure to leave a big enough opening to turn right side out
and also to insert plastic or cardboard sheets (to make the walls sturdier).

Make sure to sandwich the flap (with the velcro) between the two layers as shown below
(the end with the velcro will be inside, between the two layers)

For the walls, I cut plastic folders to the desired shapes - below: the pieces for the side walls.

Insert plastic pieces inside the walls (between the outside and inside layers)
and stitch across so that the pieces will stay in place and not float around inside.

Hand-stitch the opening shut.

To make sure the daycare/box stayed shut I added a button closure to the front

The plush characters have a front and a back. I had them printed on fabric professionally.
