Despicable Me Agnes costume
Of the three girls in the movie, Agnes is definitely the most adorable one.
When she is not wearing her ballet tutu, she wears denim overalls (with big red buttons), a yellow stripy tee, yellow socks
and white shoes.
So I tried to recreate that look.
To be honest, if I had to do it again, I would probably make it completely differently
(in fact, I'd probably just buy the cute overall shorts I ended up spotting at H&M the day before the party)
So there is no pattern for this costume - I'm just going to post some pictures of the process.
Maybe it will help someone out there or inspire a pattern for a costume or overalls?

I used an old denim skirt. It was plenty big enough for overalls for a 4 year old.
I even had fabric left over.
these were the pieces for the shorts.
I used some of my daughter's shorts as a guide for size but since these were elasticated and the overalls were not
I wanted to make sure that she would manage to put them on easily. So I added a buttoned flap on one side of the shorts.
Pin flap to shorts' back piece at side seam.
Pin shorts' back pieces right sides together.
Topstitch the denim accent on to the inside of the pocket.
Pin pocket piece to the shorts' front pieces.
Turn right side out and topstitch.
Sew the pocket shut at the bottom.
Pin short front pieces to short back pieces, right sides together.
Finish off the crotch.
Add red buttons to the front.
Add fastenings/buttons to the side flap
Add a pocket to the front
Make straps.
Turn up bottom seam to make a cuff (I actually had to add fabric to make a cuff because I had made the shorts too short to turn up)
If you can convince your child to do the high ponytail on the top her head, then she'll look just the part!
I think it ended up looking ok, despite it being a very haphazard sewing project.
