Paper hearts

I saw this cool paper gift topper on martha some time ago and wanted to make some, but did not have the patience or the x-acto knife skills required. Making these with a Craft Robo/Silhouette machine is much easier.

I draw mostly in Adobe Illustrator and use the plug-in to cut directly from there.

If you do too and would like to make these hearts, you can download the .ai file here:

A4 format

US letter format

For this larger cutout, I created a font:

download ribbon font (only caps)

It was my first time creating a font - it is really quite fun.

I learned a new word this week - "kerning" = pair-wise adjustment of horizontal glyph metrics

(did I mention that typography is fascinating? :)
